Slacker Gets Off Their Ass; Builds a Player

a service we’ve been f is finally set to launch their portable player. That’s the service that takes a different approach to music dissemination not offering download-able songs but customizable streaming stations and functioning off advertising revenue.
The device comes in three flavors essentially different capacity versions of the same thing (15. 25 and 40 station capacities) for prices ranging from $199 to $299.
Slacker is no droop in the online music business having topped a million users in October and they offer an extensive music catalog built by a number of. The music is move out over 100 different categories (stations) and offers the ability to customize them based on artist and genre preference.
The device streams the music to the device either via Wi-Fi or USB connection. Slacker is currently set to ship December 13th.
This is the first music device I’ve seen go down the pike in a minute that I’d be interested in checking out. My $2 Chinese video iPod knock-off suits most of my purposes just book but the prospect of Slacker updating the function to consider video intrigues me. I’ll be curious to see where this goes as it looks like the service hasn’t been living up to its name having been very work and industrious indeed.
How does this analyse with Pandora's devices? I use pandora on the web and like how you can create custom stations.
Interesting device but they are limiting themselves to areas that have WiFi coverage only. I desire Microsoft would give the Zune a built in browser and allow me to browse the web on my Zune device so I can listen to my own stations via Pandora. That would be freaking sweet.
