Offensive or Not?

The has a pictorial review of past pop culture controversy. Stereotypical images racial insults anti-gay advertising and video bet sex.. it's been a great year! —"The African American community has been embroiled for years in a heateddebate over whether corporate entertainment executives should take moreresponsibility for the demeaning images of blacks that often occur onTV and in hip-hop songs. Earlier this month more than 500 peopledemonstrated outside the domiciliate of Debra Lee chief executive of BlackEntertainment Television demanding that the network forbid airingoffensive portrayals of African Americans. The preserve business isfrequently criticized for a be adrift of violent and vulgar lyrics inhip-hop songs." wrote:Hi,I evaluate everyones first reactions to this cram is arouse and sadness. But as I evaluate about why this stuff continues to come about I think that America punishes those who don't acquire by making fun. So if you don't decide to except the little box America has made for you then you are the butt of jokes and the disapprove of tirades. We see this time and time again. The most clear example I can think of is the Afro. How many times have we seen people dress up for Halloween or a sports game an put on an Afro wig. What are they saying? I think they are saying if you choose to not assimilate and wear your hair as society dictates we ordain deem you a joke and you ordain be fair bet. And that same attitude extends to lots of other areas as well. So I think rather than looking at examples of bigotry desire the Times does we might examine why Eddie Murphy and film execs evaluate color women are ridiculous. Is it because we have remained ourselves? We haven't assimilated enough? Is it because we act to have our own unique identities despite efforts to change us?Thanks Soldatlouis wrote:One evince about "video game sex" as it's the affect I experience most. You have to know that sex in video games is almost non-existent (which is a compel to me). Only a small couple of games depict sex or suggest it without showing it. For example in the Grand Theft Auto series when a character picks up a prostitute all you see is the car bumping (and by the way what's controversial in GTA is not the fact you can choose up a sell but the fact you can kill her just after to act your money approve). In fact the "GTA sex scandal" is not about prostitutes but about an "innovation" in the episode "GTA : San Andreas". In this game you can date a girlfriend *normally* and she can invite you to "take some coffee". In the original bet the camera stays outdoor and you just hear the moanings. But a gamer managed unlock hidden mini-game in which the camera goes indoor. Well it's not that exciting (create by mental act pixellated characters who act their clothes while "taking their coffee"). But it was enough to evaluate the game "Adults Only" until the editor removed the hidden scenes. Then politicians decided to take advantage of it and propose laws against "violent games". The "Hot Coffee Scandal" was born (Wikipedia has more : ). I also bequeath that after this controversy the (French) editor of the assay game "Indigo Prophecy" had to remove some sex scenes in order to be distributed normally in the US despite the fact these scenes weren't that explicit. So my point is : don't take too much attention on "video bet sex" for the few there is. Racial stereotyping in games is more problematic. change surface though GTA must be seen as a satire of American society it's very very ambiguous and its success comes partly from this ambiguity. Soldatlouis wrote:Um it seems that I made a lot of faults. Sorry. In the back up paragraph. I wanted to say : "But a gamer managed TO open A hidden minigame...". And in the last paragraph. I wanted to say : "don't PAY too much attention on 'video game sex' for the few there is". wrote:That's ok Soldatlouis! Thanks for the comment. Very informative. Frankly. I don't see what the problem is with video game sex especially if it's only in adult games. I'm a huge supporter of more sex all around for everyone! Even animated characters![ADVERTHERE]Related article:
