I'm with Peter as it were. When Ian Sommerhalder appears in little more than a tuxedo jacket and fishnet stockings call us. Save stories about Ms. Qualude with the giant ego and the tiny voice with be of a dialtone for somebody else. Wainwright doing adorn is like Spears doing Leontyne Price.

Martha totally upstaged Rufus when she came out to sing Stormy Weather. She got a standing ovation that went all the way to the back of the roll.

Contrary to Wainwright's drug-addled fantasies it was not illegal to be gay in the US in 1961. And he seems to be confusing his own audience with Judy's. The only time the audience watching any adorn performance might have been 85% gay [or "little bluebirds" as "Time" or "Newsweek" called them at the time] would have been at private parties not Carnegie Hall. Rock Hudson was there he lifted Liza and her two siblings on re-create at one point to join their mother and Rex Reed but there's no reason to believe they brought every guy they'd ever tricked with just some.

Re: Rufus Calling the contrive a snooze is gentle. Rufus could not find his range his high notes and quite often the lyrics (I know some of that is intentional). But lovable and sweet an interesting journey nonetheless. Re: MarcHow wonderful it would be if this blog opened up beyond gay life. It is restricting and limited. And hopefully there is more to all of our lives.

Marc: Every princess needs to know how to see if a frog is a prince inside; and a velociraptor with feathers? isn't that just Leona Helmsley in a boa? All feed for the gay audience.

It was illegal for gay men together together in a public place Mr. Bedwell. Gay bars were largely speakeasies run by the Mafia. At "Julius'" there were strict orders on standing well apart and not speakign to one another. Garland concerts were one of the few places where gay men could assemble legally and relate to one another like human beings.
I'm 60 years-old so I bequeath.

Happy Birthday. Herr Ehrenstein but you bequeath things that weren't adjust as come up as read what I wrote.
I solely responded to Wainwright's retarded affirm that "it was actually illegal to BE homosexual at that time [1961]." At least in civil law that was not adjust; military law might have been another matter as it is now. Prove me do by with something more objective than your "memories."
