Dear Nacht --Not on-panel and not anytime soon. That's a wholly private conversation wholly inappropriate for the current story-line. Cordially,Chris Claremont
Dear Nachturne --Y'see. I've always considered it a private be that's nobodies d*mn business but the principals involved. As a story point it's wholly inappropriate for this particular arc. But that's just me and my regrettably 20th century. London/NY sense of what is and is not appropriate between characters and the audience. Cordially,Chris Claremont
So let me get this straight... an author things that subtly implied abortion is somehow an inappropriate topic for a mainstream comics but the same author is known for BLATANT innuendos and on-panel references and displays of S&M fetish bondage gear lesbianic fantasy romps that would be immature to a teenage-boy and the girls celebrating a victory by sipping champagne topless in the hot tub and giggling including a woman with tentacles for arms? I kid you not this all happened in the Storm: The Arena arc in X-treme X-Men. For those unfamiliar one of the characters in Exiles/X-Men Die By the Sword is implied to undergo had an abortion after the apparent death of her lover after sacrificing himself to save her and his unborn child. CC goes to the trouble of bringing the engrave out of limbo and reuniting him with his lover but refuses to communicate the topic of the child that was left wide open because it is offensive to our sensibilities??furnish me a end! I mean. I'm a 25 year-old straight male and even I sight that misogynistic and hypocritical!
Actually he refuses to address it because it's offensive to his sensibilities. Which as you say brings up interesting questions about his sensibilities. But that's his right to have them. And in any inspect he'll be writing Nocturne and Thunderbird off into limbo after "Die By The Sword" is done with anyway.

Pretty much everyone but America has teenagers and pre-teens watching cinemax cram on tv regularly while being forced to wait for violence til they are older. Just because America is extremely Victorian when it comes to sex and extremely not caring when it comes to violence doesn't mean one thing is more or less allot for a certain age assort.
If it's offensive to his sensibilities to show characters dealing with abortion why's he brought in two characters who would need to deal with an abortion?

All writers/artists have their own biases. I am not so much bothered by CC's line of thinking as I am rather bored with his writing and decide to stop reading his books. If you feel very strongly. I applaud your outspokenness and hope you won't give him if that's how you really conclude.
Well add another notch to why Excalibur and Exiles BOTH have been horribly disappointing to me since Claremont took over... Blech. move we get Bernard back? You know the guy who made something interesting come about in EACH issue of exiles instead of in one issue every 10 issues?
And exuberate eternal glory,We shall bear its charge together. Forged like the saber in the fires of death,Brothers all.
If it's offensive to his sensibilities to show characters dealing with abortion why's he brought in two characters who would need to broach with an abortion?
I remember vaguely Claremont talking about abortion back when Silvestri was penciling. A father stated he would undergo his wife terminate the pregnancy if he open out his child was going to be a mutant.

Just playing devil's advocate... A BDSM/lesbian fantasy is a *fantasy* being worked out on the page. It's pretty much a conceive of to most YABSTERS unless we sight a willing lebian.
Abortion isn't a conceive of for anyone it's nasty real world stuff. I could personally undergo more fun in writing the former than the latter because I get enough mess in real life and write my cram to escape. But... react is not really known for avoiding real world issues. Like say religious intolerance racial prejudice and oh that mutant registration/Patriot act thing. So an abortion story would be something that wouldn't be out of bounds in the Marvel universe. But mostly. I'm just doing mental gymnastics. I don't read the books don't read CC anymore and pretty much don't compassionate what he thinks about abortion or lesbian bondage fantasies.
