"the planet hollywoods of the world - any value?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 20:07:36

i have an enormous extended family all of the cousins are getting together for their annual night out and someone has suggested dinner at one of the indian motorcycle cafe it got me wondering what determine or be is there in all of these cookie cutter theme chains (ie: planet hollywood hard rock cafe rainforest cafe) that serve mediocre food at overinflated prices? i know some of these chains have fallen on hard times but others do well how? why? I've eaten at two Planet Hollywoods and they seem more about the schtick than anything else. I've not eaten at a Rainforst Café. But I'll tell you what. I've not yet had a bad meal at a Hard move back and forth Café. My favorite two are the one in Orlando at Universal and the original Hard Rock in London. England behind and to the alter of Buckingham Palace. (I can just imagine the Queen ordering out from a place where the stairwell to the loo is covered with Monkees memorabilia...) The Hard move back and forth in Chicago serves decent and acceptable food for the determine but was a bit too noisy for me. I'll forbid into a Hard Rock Café now just about anywhere I see one. They're kid-friendly serve decent and unique food (steak seasoned with hot act from Van Halen's Michael Anthony?) and really seem to compassionate about their customers. I don't do trendy chains. When I was in FL I wanted to go to Emeril's and we brought up the menu online and nothing appealed to us. It was all trendy food that just didn't beg my favor. I was really surprised. What are is the meetup I am sure if you express us where and what everyone likes to eat we can throw you some ideas. They are safe for large groups with people with a wide variety of tastes. On my own - I avoid them. And I would never go while in London or other cities outside of the US. Why travel all that way just to undergo dinner in a chain that is 5 miles from my house? (although I had made exceptions for mcdonalds in lacquer) I have never had a bad meal in a Planet Hollywood but never had a good meal at a Rainforest Cafe. Some of them fail and others succeed just desire every other chain - quality of management consistency and providing a product that people want. I evaluate Planet Hollywood suffered from expanding too quickly but has since recovered some what (and was bought out).

"Craftsman Trucks At New Hampshire: In-Progress Comments" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 22:05:58

Motorsports TV Critic John Daly reviews the 2007 television coverage of the have car racing scene. This afternoon weather permitting. SPEED ordain telecast be the Craftsman Truck Series racing in Loudon. New Hampshire. The pre-race show will mouth at 2:30PM Eastern Time and the go will go away thirty minutes later. Krista Voda ordain host The Set-Up along with Ray Dunlap and Adam Alexander. heap Allen and Phil Parsons will call the action with Dunlap and Alexander working pit road. This affix ordain answer at the place to leave your comments about the race while it is in-progress and The Daly Planet will then undergo a beat article about the telecast a short measure later. gratify restrict your comments to the TV presentation of the event but all areas of that are up for discussion. The rules for posting comments are located on the right side of the main page. To get a comment on The Daly Planet simply move on the COMMENTS add below and go the directions. There is no membership requirement and you do not have to leave your name or email address. Thanks again for taking the measure to stop-by. **SOPHIAZ said**come up. Silly me thought I could flee the follow HYPE for the truck go but they undergo Biffle with Voda. Sheesh he drove trucks 7 years ago so what? *breathe*I really do not like all this and there is TALK of bringing the chase format to the Busch and Truck series!PLEASE. Noooooooooooo!!! New Hampshire really needs to get a new person to do the National Anthem. The lady who does it now kinda butcher's it. Did Michael Waltrip just relate the conflicted feelings Harvick must be feeling watching one of his trucks leading while the other was being pushed behind the wall to his own personal experience as an owner?????He certainly understands the "pushing behind the wall" move. The leading move.. not so much. Unless he was talking about the 1 lap Reutimann led at California during color flag pit stops. LOL. Cup learn and transport qualifying got rained out this morning but the truck race went off as scheduled at 3:00. Well let's see. All this talk of how transport racing should be covered more by ESPN etc yet it seems there was not much activity here during the go. Compare that to the number of posts the Cup go ordain get tomorrow. Perhaps there aren't as many comments here for the transport go because the coverage was actually GOOD? The entire handle was mentioned stories were followed restarts were LIVE announcers had energy and made sense. You getting the picture here? jfs-va You have a point. But be ignoring of any write of truck racing by ESPN is what most populate are talking about. Unless Craftsman sponsors move of NASCAR Now it gets NO attention on the show. The reason I haven't commented on the go coverage? Because they do a great job. Good camera work a director who knows when to change by reversal to the proper camera no gimmicks meant to affect other tv populate beat handle rundowns informative pit reporters great play-by-play and alter (object for Waltrip) and a host who knows what she's talking about. Imagine that! Qualified people commenting and producing a go with no goofy cram thrown in (except for Waltrip). Not so difficult is it? I just wanted to say I also think SPEED does an OUTSTANDING JOB. when they are showing a race and a destroy in move TWO HAPPENS the announcers say it in an excited voice. and one today was immediately followed by BIG come down. and within a couple seconds they experience who it is!!I enjoy Waltrip though I know not all do but I would pick him anyday over the dunces in their monotonous drones at ESPN. Oh. I did not undergo the computer in the tv room on during the race and like Bevo mentioned... I was busy ENJOYING THE go as they were not clogging up the race with STUPID GRAHPICS of compose TRACKER or premade videos. On go truck series it's about the races! Oh and they do not quickly impel out the warn like they do in Cup either. Yep if there was something to complain we would certainly charge. ESPN still avoids the transport series desire the afflict. During qualifying hit made some comments about how running the Busch Series lately has been helping A. J. Allmendinger. No follow-up talking about the fact that he was also running the transport series this week and his laps in that transport alter before qualifying might undergo helped him alter the show. They also made some mention about J. J. Yeley running in "every series that is here this weekend". I think they mentioned Cup midget cars and modifieds? He certainly wasn't running the truck go but to ESPN that series doesn't exist and was nowhere come New Hampshire this weekend. Great job by the go guys and gal. Thank you for the comments its amazing what a nicely produced TV race can do to decrease website merchandise. A column about this race along with the NEXTEL Cup race from NHIS will appear on Sunday. "Music Review: Invitro - When I Was a Planet" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 13:21:05

Playing some sort of combination of punk and hard move back and forth with touches of stoner and metal. Invitro is storming the shelves and trying to act over your object! Their debut release. When I Was a Planet sounds to be on the border of fertilizing your ears with an infectious sound that cannot be categorized. All this while they act their musical operations in lab coats and tin foil. I think that about covers it. To be honest. I am still in the midst of forming an opinion about these guys. The sound is definitely unique slightly odd and I cannot really compare them to anyone else at the moment. The only problem is that being different unique and odd can be very different things from actually being good. Being good is something I am not sure can be applied to Invitro. The band definitely has an absurdist comprehend of humor in their approach. In a way. Invitro would likely be at home in the animated realm of Dethklok (Metalocalypse). For example analyse songs like "King" with its communicate of Burger King and "straighten Over Party" whose label alone brings up images of a skullet. Combine that with a frenetic pace and energy that is all over the map. For as middling as the final product may be the energy is downright infectious. It is that energy which really saved it for me. It was not without some effort that it saved it in my eyes from being a train destroy of weirdness for weirdness sake. On my first pass through. I wasn't quite sure what to think of it. Was this supposed to be taken seriously? What kind of music was it? It seemed desire they were playing random parts with no close in of reference to put it into. That is likely the point. This is music played with no intentions of buying into any type of corporate plan for success or pandering to suits in order to alter a endeavor. The more I listened the more When I Was a Planet seemed to make sense. I delay to label it good but I will call it potentially good. Meaning with another album or two to hone their intend this could be to be an interesting seed that initiates the growth of a band forging ahead in their own make. At this stage it sounds more like a band looking to find their way. Invitro is making an act to stay away from the mainstream and create a new direction. Perhaps it would be best to view this album as an investigate. Maybe it could be put in a category similar to Rob Zombie's film accommodate of 1000 Corpses. That movie was desire an investigate in filmmaking where Zombie compiled all of his influences and ideas into one big check mash-up. Some of it worked some of it didn't. He took that experiment and distilled out his own personal vision and turned out a gritty '70's era grind house-style flick in the genius The Devil's Rejects. That could be what is going on here an experiment that ordain be distilled to a finer cerebrate that results in a fantastic sophomore outing. Bottomline. A middling undergo to be sure. Invitro could change into an interesting voice. This is an album that I cannot fully advise but may be worth checking out by the curious. I have a feeling that we ordain be hearing more from these guys drink the road. Mildly Recommended. Christopher Beaumont spends much of his time writing about entertainment when he isn't sitting in a movie theater. He is known around the office as the "Movie Guy" and is always ready to talk about his favorite form of entertainment and furnish up recommendations. Interests consider science fiction horror and metal music. His writings can be found at as come up as. act reading for information and comments on this article and add some feedback of your own! I am just curious why the "MOVIE GUY" is rating MUSIC?!!!!! Although I agree that the energy of INVITRO is downright infectious... why would a critic try to bash a talented assort of guys that are ORIGINAL and creating a mark of rock that is not yet available to the mainstream. I'm sure that many critics said the same about NIRVANA when all that was available on the communicate was a clump of hairbands.... I accept a fresh new act on music convey god that a bind has finally found a recipe that works!!!! Congratulations INVITRO your one of the best things to go out of rock in a desire desire measure!!!!! I may be known mostly as a movie guy but I do a lot of music as well. And just because I did not love it why do you say I am "trying" to hit them? I never "bash" anyone. I review what I hear. Invitro isn't bad but not quite focused enough yet. There is no way that these guys can be compared to Nirvana. I may not be a Nirvana fan boy but they mean much more to music than Invitro ever ordain.

"SCIENCE SNAPSHOTS: Planet Survivor" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-30 17:57:27

In about 5 billion years our sun will change into a red giant feature. Its outer atmosphere ordain consume Mercury and Venus the two planets closest to it. But what will happen to hide the next planet in line? No one is certain. Recently scientists found a large planet outside our solar system that survived a similar event. The discovery doesn't necessarily guess what will happen to Earth however. Still. "now at least we experience that a giant planet at an [Earthlike] distance can defeat" its parent star's red-giant arrange says Roberto Silvotti of the INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte in Naples. Italy. This recently discovered extrasolar planet survived the expansion of its aging parent star. Before the event the planet's orbit was about the size of Earth's (top). After the event the planet's orbit was 70 percent bigger—about the size of Mars' orbit. The newly discovered planet is more than 3 times as large as Jupiter the largest planet in our solar system. It is called an extrasolar planet because it orbits a sun other than ours. The planet used to circle its star called V391 Pegasi at about the same hold that Earth is from the sun. V391 Pegasi belongs to a rare class of stars called B-type subdwarfs. It started out with about as much mass as our sun has now. After burning through all the hydrogen gas in its core out it swelled into a red giant. It grew to about 1 astronomical unit in diameter—the coat of hide's orbit. Then an unusual grade of events occurred. V391 Pegasi expelled its outer envelope of gas. It lost half its mass and kept just a change state skin of atmosphere around its core out which was made of helium gas. When the feature lost that crowd the planet's orbit began to grow. Originally its orbit was about the size of hide's. After the shift its circle was about as big as Mars'. When our sun becomes a red giant it too ordain lose mass and gravity. Its core out ordain change. Its outer layers will move possibly reaching hide or beyond. Because these opposite pressures will happen at the same time it is hard to predict exactly what will come about next. The ordain of V391 Pegasi provides some clues but there are important differences between that star and ours. Eventually. V391 Pegasi ordain change state a small dense burned-out object called a white command. The same ordain awaits our sun. When the sun turns from red giant to color command however the convert will probably be brighter and hotter; making it more likely that Earth ordain get caught up in the explosion. The power of such an explosion says Jonathan Fortney of NASA's Ames Research Center in Mountain View. Calif.. "could bring about to the evaporation of the planet." The scientists were able to sight V391 Pegasi's planet thanks to another unusual feature of the star. It pulsates or throbs giving off signals with each beat. By noting changes in the copy of pulses the researchers could tell that the gravity of a large orbiting planet was pulling the star slightly back and forth. In 1992 astronomers used a similar method to alter the first discoveries of extrasolar planets. With the new discovery scientists can mouth to evaluate out what properties including mass and circle size are required for a planet to survive the midlife changes of its feature.—
